Heavy rain is causing flash flooding and traffic chaos in Queensland's southeast. The worst hit area is the Sunshine Coast, with Nambour receiving up to 150mm in just six hours earlier today....
Heavy rain is also causing headaches in Brisbane, particularly in the northern suburbs.
Flash flooding on Ann Street in Fortitude Valley left three cars stranded, with the busy road blocked for a short time to clear the road.
An SEQWater spokesman said the dam catchments had so far received inconsistent rainfall. Somerset and the North Pine dams recorded the best falls with between 60 and 75mm, but the larger Wivenhoe Dam has had just 24mm. Since Friday morning rainfall has added 0.1 per cent to dam levels, providing an extra six days supply. The combined capacity currently sits at 37.07 per cent.
